It's crazy how you can still feel all the hope and promise in the air that night just watching this back. It's a shame he wound up being a rather underwhelming president. Symbolically, he met the moment but not in execution once in office. Did not like McCain policy-wise at all but gotta say that was an eloquent concession speech. 29:55 now Senator Warnock!

I remember this. It was a very good night.

Look at McCain how it handled the loss my goodness what has happen to the republican party today? It use to be like this from both sides, maga has stained the republican party so much that it will take years or even decades to wash out that stain of the republican party! I'm a register republican and i voted for McCain then for Obama 2012 and I didn't felt weird or anything then, now if you say you're voting for the opposite site the maga stain will cast you out. I hope sooner than later the republican party that I know and love will return to that value that we had before.

Unknowingly, this show impacted my life in ways I would not realize until decades later, as strange as it seems ! And as it may sound unbelievable to some, I began watching the Tonight Show when Jack Parr was hosting ! Some place back in the Sixties ! To give you an idea, I was born in the mid Fifties ! Lost my Father at age 5, to Cancer ! So that left myself and Two older siblings, and of course my Mother, GOD rest her Soul ! I guess I was destined to be a Night Owl, still am, approaching 69 ! But to cut to the chase, when I was supposed to be in Bed, many times I would sneak back into our utility room, where I could look into where the Family TV was located. And watch all these marvelous Actresses and Actors, but especially the Comedians ! There in lies my point of writing this. In that I really believe that the Tonight Show helped form not only my personality, but also my sense of humor ! And the timing that goes with the delivery ! As a matter of fact, just tonight, a life long friend said that I have always been a Joker ! And he said it sincerely, not as a jab ! So I guess my reputation precedes me ? And watching the reruns of these entertainers , but now with a much older eye, made me reflect on what a great, sometimes not so great life I had ! And too, just how quickly our lives pass by ! I heard how fast time flys when I was a kid, but never thought much about it ! Until experiencing it for myself ! Now it seems like I can close my eyes, and a week, or Two, or Three will pass by ! It is impossible for me to convey the urgency in which I say this ! The same urgency the older folks were trying to convey to me, back when I was young ! As Scripture tells us, our lives are but a Vapor ! Here only for a little while, then gone ! And just as I had no say in being born, I'll likely have less saying in Death ! To the youngster's that may run across this, Don't be afraid to tell the one's you love, that you love them ! And tell them often ! Hold them when you can ! Forgive them always ! For this too shall pass ! And it will be over before you know it !

It's great that all worldwide TVs made the 80s retrospective in late 1989. In Brazil, we had a lot of documentary about the 80s. The eighties was a very rich decade in all aspects.

McCain was a true patriot. He served all Americans, not just his party. He didn't bash liberals. He didn't attack his fellow Americans or say divisive things. He never put down members of our military, alive or dead. The republican party needs to return to this.
